Very helpful and welcoming and the chef came in specially on a Tuesday, when food isn't normally served, to provide a really good and varied selection of food. Service was friendly and efficientVerified Let down by poor reception We visited this pub for the first time after reading good reviews. We went to the bar and said we'd made a booking. The staff member took us to a table and made off without saying a word. There was no menu on the table and as it was our 1st time we were unsure how to order. We saw our table had a number on it so assumed we order at the bar. We scouted round for a menu and eventually ordered food and drinks. A really poor start to proceedings. The room was light and airy and well decorated. Food was OK. Service improved once we'd ordered.Verified Another enjoyable visit This is a lovely pub to visit for pretty decent pub grub. The manager/owner is very nice and makes a big effort. I recommend their fish and chips and their desserts are lovely too. Most of our party enjoyed their meals. My only slight criticism was my daughter's dessert waffle was burnt. We would visit again.Verified Bland, boring and burnt. Looks like a nice pub and the beer, J. W. Lees also gives that impression. Ordered the 8oz Burger with bacon, cheese and tangy sauce pluse herb salted fries. Good grief, I would have thought that burger would have been a relatively simple task. Not so, the burger was overcooked and dry, and the 'toasted bun' was still cold, probably from the fridge. Bland and unappetising and the herb fries were tasteless. The best part was the door out to the carpark.
